One side of the quilt is made to look like a typical blanket that you may find in a home with fabric patches from Vietnam. In Vietnamese funeral traditions, a blanket is laid over the dead before the procession.
On the other side of the quilt, I want to emphasize Le’s family suffering amid the changing news cycle that already forgot his death. As the Vietnamese and Asian American communities come together to mourn Le’s death, I hope that we can examine our relationship with law enforcement and address anti-Blackness in our community.
